In this series about what colors mean in a logo, we look at the color red for branding your business. In this series, we already examined the color blue in the blog titled “What Does a Blue Logo Color Say About Your Business?”.
Red is associated with the health care industry denoting blood and life. The color red is also used with branding restaurants while stimulating an appetite for fast food eating.
When a graphic designer collaborates with your company, the goal is to make sure your branding perfectly matches your company's mission and the image you want to communicate. With the Pantone Matching System, there is an infinite color palette to select from when creating your branding. It is imperative that the logo colors speak to and attract your demographics.
Marketo did a study of the world’s top 100 brands determined by brand value and analyzed each brand’s logo and came up with statistics of which colors are companies using most. Here are the results:
29% - Red
28% - Black or Grayscale
13% - Yellow or Gold
Another important fact they found out is regarding how many colors are used in a logo:
Red evokes a passionate and visceral response. It is a color that increases your heart rate, makes your breath faster, and is generally associated with energy, excitement, and passion. It’s one of the colors that is attention-grabbing, while it can also be provocative and excitable.
Using red for a company's branding in a logo, website, business card, brochure, flyer, and color of your shirt in a headshot it symbolizes:
Red is an appetite stimulant, especially when combined with yellow. Look at these successful National and International restaurant logos:
