FAQ - What Should I Expect For My Photoshoot?

I work with many wonderful locations across the Tampa Bay area — beaches, lakes, parks, and more. Before your session, we'll have a brief phone consultation to determine the best location for your shoot. If you have somewhere in mind, I'd love to hear it. If you're unsure, I'll recommend my favorite spots based on your session time and the weather. (Note that some places require entrance fees or permits for professional photography.) 

Yes, I have a home studio located in Palm Harbor. We will make that decision together to get the best outcome.

Depending on the package you select, it can be 15 minutes to unlimited time. Headshots typically last 15 to 30 minutes, and a brand shoot can last up to three hours.

Depends on your needs. I can shoot during the week days, evenings or weekends. We will work together to shoot when the weather is cooperating. That is Florida living...

With Florida weather, we have to be flexible. Rainstorms can show up quickly. We will keep in communication discussing the weather prior to your photo shoot to make sure it is ideal conditions.

Take time to groom your hair, make-up, nails, and clothing. Consider packing a brush, lip gloss, backup clothes, and bug spray (if outdoors). Remember, to think about the perfect shoes if it is a full head to toe shot!

For little ones, wipes come in handy for a lot - muddy hands, runny noses, and baby spit-up. If your child has a favorite toy, lovey, or book, bring that too! Feel free to bring any meaningful props to use in your photos.

Bring your favorite clothing that makes you feel good and look your best. If it is a branding photo shoot for business, wear your "power" outfit. Get ready for a fun experience! We’ll play and get the perfect photos for marketing.

Wear a little heavier make-up than usual (foundation, mascara, lipstick, etc.). The foundation will help smooth out your skin and pop on film. Go light on jewelry so the camera doesn't have to compete with your jewelry. Solid clothing photographs better, so if you are wearing a print with a louder design, wear the design on your shirt. Pair a solid jacket or sweater with the print to calm things down. Remember to bring your favorite shoes in case we shoot a "head to toe" shot.

You can go for complementing the beach or contrasting. A more soothing photo is complementing nature. Some popular clothing choices include cotton, linen, rayon, and denim (think chambray shirt).

The best clothing colors that complement our Florida beaches on the Gulf of Mexico are aqua, turquoise, navy, seafood green, and sea glass. These colors always photograph well and work with nearly all skin tones. There is something classic about the family of blue hues. Family beach pictures in navy blue and the complimenting colors to that tone are always a winner.
